Practical Steps
Key planning questions
Process tool 1
This Word document sets out key questions to support planning and space for responses. You may answer some at an early stage. Others could be explored during introductory work.
Action planning
template
Process tool 2
This template can be used to help you summarise your work in self-evaluation.
It provides a simple structure for you to make general statements about development and may be redesigned to include other headings such as resources, timelines, success indicators and staff involvement to match your wider school improvement planning processes.
Leading change
Process tool 3
This Word document contains a series of propositions to consider, followed by some central questions to think through in leading the process of change in your school.
These practical tools have been developed by practitioners through NCSL’s Leading Edge series and, in particular, through seminars which took place in 2001–02. Over 60 school leaders contributed to the exploration of good practice and development of practical workshop materials for learning-centred leaders. So, what you read here reflects the views and values of these leaders in ways which, we hope, will bring a degree of challenge to thinking.
